Gentlemen!
In this blog I will describe in detail process of the building models swedish privateer in 1/36.
Blog of Igor Capinos

  • I finish with theory and I go to practical . All frames are printed on paper and glued on 12 mms plywood. I need whole 3 hours for cut all . I have marked the place for frame on lash from MDF and further I have assembled all frames by means of screw.

  • A Big Day - laying of model to go

I had a big interest to way of hull fabrication which offered Alex Baranov  I change its little, and I have done the shell not on dolt but on set from thick frame. I used here surface which was built in Rhino. To get the profile a frame , it is enough was define their position along keel and cut the surface transverse planes.

But further I have taken my loved "rhino"
( the program 3d modeling Rhinoceros ) and modelled the surface of the hull.

Gradually , step by step I defined final look of ship. Certainly this image will have a changes in process of the building but ship will such:

The Raw datas for reconstruction ship are enough little - a drawing and main measuring. But gradually I have collected more information for full reconstruction of external look ship. Herewith follows to remember that drawing contains all unique for this ship elements , it is form of the hull and decor. All rest elements of ship are standard and can be restored from reference book.

The Main measuring and other information from album:

length between perp. - 83 feets
breadth moulded -22.4 feet
draudht of water - 9.4 feet
the height of gunports above water - 3.9 feet
guns - 12 4-pounds
crew - 90 foreheads.
spare of the food - 2.5 month
spare water - 1.25 month
oars- 9 pairs

I used ketch plan and sections of the schooner hull from danish site http://orlogsbasen.dk/ as additional material of the hull design

After Poltava I have felt taste to 1\36 scales and having balanced their own production area with size of the models , I have chosen drawings graceful swedish privateer ( sheet ХХХIХ drawing 9)
